Job Description

The Manager of Title and Closing oversees the daily operations of the Title and Closing departments. The Manager ensures the timely review and clearing of title issues as well as manages the closing coordinators to ensure timely liquidation of assets. This position is responsible for regular interaction and reporting with clients and resolving any issues related to defects in title or closing. The incumbent is accountable for client satisfaction, staffing and productivity across the department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, review and implement new processes to improve overall closing/title department timeframes, as well as production numbers.
  • Review client performance statistics and management reports. Review data with executive management and clients as needed.
  • Create and manage relationships with agents, attorneys, title and closing providers to ensure successful execution and optimal performance.
  • Set and monitor goals and objectives of department to ensure efficient and effective performance individually and collectively.
  • Manage a team of employees within both the title and closing teams.  Provide coaching, support and guidance to the 13+ employees within the departments.
  • Negotiate reduction in fees as needed with  clients while understanding the forclosure process and other legal matters.
  • Use Knowledge of Home Owners Association Statutes when working with Associations and reviewing contract/purchase agreements.
  • Use real estate knowledge to resolve problems with lender documentation.

Job Specifications


  • Read and understand real estate contracts/purchase agreements. Read and understand all closing/lender documents- including HUD 1 settlement statements and deeds. Strong knowledge of title issues and problem resolution of these issues. Negotiate reduction in fees as needed. Strong knowledge of foreclosure process and other legal matters as it relates to real estate. Knowledge of Home Owners Association Statutes and working with Associations. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word.  (MS Access abilities a big plus). High ethical standards and personal qualities. Motivated, positive, team player. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to problem solve in a growing, expanding business. Negotiate reduction in fees as needed. Knowledge of foreclosure process and other legal matters as it relates to real estate. Strong excel and overall computer skills. High ethical standards and personal qualities

People Management:

  • Must be able to manage and motivate a team across different geographical locations.

Prior Work Experience

  • Technical:   5 - 8 years
  • Supervisory:   3 - 5 years

Education and Credentials

  • Required:    Associate/Technical Degree
  • Preferred:    Bachelor’s Degree
