Job Description

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Radian connects lenders, homebuyers, investors and loan servicers using a suite of private mortgage insurance and related risk management products and services. We help promote and preserve the tradition of homeownership while protecting lenders from default-related losses on residential first mortgages. We also facilitate the sale of low-down payment mortgages in the secondary market.

The Solutions Architect, under leadership of the Enterprise Architect will collaborate with technical leads and business stakeholders to define requirements and features, determine optimum worflows and develop enterprise class solutions. The solution architect will collaborate with other architects and the enterprise architects to develop artifacts, reference architecture, patterns and enhance the architectural practice. The solution architect will be a member of the architectural review board and provide architectural design and assistance to technical leads for integrations with their platforms and related systems including API managers and middleware.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Solution Development, requirements analysis, collection, workflow optimization, and process flows, collaborates with IT stakeholders to apply IT strategy to architecture future state architecture and develops roadmaps to realize future state
  •  Develops standards for the specific function or technology domain and defines design patterns and configurations that can be reused as building blocks for other solutions
  • Creates project and technology roadmaps and define migration plans to mitigate the gaps between the current and future state
  • Responsible for assessing, defining and championing the architectural solution for appplications and integrations in alignment with enterprise principles, policies and standards, coordinates with project teams to create, document, assess and/or validate the application and infrastructure solution designs for specific systems.
  • Maintains positive relationships with IT and business leaders to effectively promote and communicate IT architecture value proposition.
  •  Maintain knowledge of emerging technology and software trends focused on driving comparative advantage
  •  Defines and ensures effective metrics to measure standards adoption, reuse, and demonstrate value

Job Specifications


  • Responsible for solution development for Application Development and Integrations.
  • Responsible for application roadmaps for integration technologies.
  • Responsible to develop and maintain the application and integrations Capabilities Model and Reference Architecture.
  • Conduct Application and Integration Assessments for all assigned projects.
  • Provide detailed architectural solution design to delivery teams.
  • Lifecycle Management - The management of an Applications and components (API/Objects) from inception throughout its useful life. Developing Policies for Replace or add new, Re-engineer, Retire, or Retain/Maintain it.
  • Solution Design The activities involved in conceptualizing, defining, architecting, and ultimately designing complex, integrated applications.
  • Appling Standards to Solutions - Able to apply industry and internal IT standards to solutions and to assess compliance of a solution against industry and Radian Architectural standards.
  • System Development Methodologies - Able to apply industry defined development techniques to create or modify Application solutions.
  • Research - Able to conduct a process of steps used to collect and analyze information to increase our understanding of a topic or issue.
  • Modeling - The ability to represent information following a defined standard, using a combination of graphical and textual elements. The ability to choose the correct type of model for a particular set of information, depending on the type of information to be communicated
  • Relationship Management - Creates relationships with new acquaintances quickly and confidently; works to build trust and partner with stakeholders.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in linking of cross-functional applications between disparate business units and systems
  • Experience with business and technical requirement analysis, business process modeling/mapping, and methodology development.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application integration patterns.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and properly set milestones, timelines, etc.
  • Attention to detail and organization in all aspects of work.
  • Strong communication (written/verbal) skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a small team environment
  • Technical Skills: .Net, API Management, Middleware (Boomi, BizTalk, Mulesoft), Java Frameworks (Appian, Activiti, ActiveMQ, Camel, Kafka, Solr, Storm, Zookeeper, Spring, Ninja, Sonar), solutions development, integrations architecture

Prior Work Experience

  • 5 - 8 years of related experience.

Education and Credentials

  • Associate or Technical Degree, in Information Technology or related required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related preferred.
