Job Description

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Radian connects lenders, homebuyers, investors and loan servicers using a suite of private mortgage insurance and related risk management products and services. We help promote and preserve the tradition of homeownership while protecting lenders from default-related losses on residential first mortgages. We also facilitate the sale of low-down payment mortgages in the secondary market.

Design and maintain risk management reports and analysis using SAS, Microsoft Excel, and other business analysis software. Ability to perform responsibilities with a great deal of autonomy. Uses strong experience base to identify trends, research anomalies without prompting and offer fully developed solutions to problems Manipulation of large data files (e.g., SAS, Access, Excel, etc.) to identify trends, make business recommendations, and to provide data extractions to business partners. Pro-actively contribute to the data management process through effective data research and analysis.. Ability to lead and contribute to cross-functional project teams with a focus on improving data quality and reporting accuracy and efficiency. Support and lead efforts to automate manual processes through the use of VBA and SAS. Creation of analytical presentations and communication of strategic business findings to senior management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Design and maintain risk management reports and analysis using SAS, Microsoft Excel, and other business analysis software.  Participate in the preparation of monthly reporting and research projects on credit risk and mortgage insurance.
  •   Manipulation of large data files (e.g., SAS, Access, Excel, etc.) to identify trends, make business recommendations, and to provide data extractions to business partners.
  •   Pro-actively contribute to the data management process through effective data research and analysis.  Assist in improving data quality and report accuracy..
  •   Creation of analytical presentations and communication of strategic business findings to senior management.
  •  Support and lead efforts to automate manual processes through the use of VBA and SAS


Job Specifications

Knowledge:

  • The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) and a minimum of 4-6 years of industry experience
  • Expert analytical, problem solving and data management skills with abilities to digest vast amounts of data, manipulate it, and identify correlations though a variety of statistical techniques
  • Experience in Financial Services - Mortgage industry experience preferred


Skills and Abilities:

  •  Key competencies in: critical thinking, problem solving skills, and planning and organizing work
  • Proficient with SAS and / or other data analysis software (SQL, ORACLE, etc.)
  • Excellent presentation skills (including oral and written) and ability to create meaningful management reports from various sources
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and show a demonstrated ability to absorb information quickly
  • Training / experience with Microsoft Office products; very high-level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and offer fully developed solutions to problems

Other Position Parameters:

  • Work in a team environment; balancing and prioritizing requests from multiple managers and departments within Radian
  • Exceptional time management skills, able to respond to changing priorities



Prior Work Experience and Education:

  • 3 to 5 years of related work experience
  • Master’s Degree with a concentration in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics required.
