Job Description

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Radian connects lenders, homebuyers, investors and loan servicers using a suite of private mortgage insurance and related risk management products and services. We help promote and preserve the tradition of homeownership while protecting lenders from default-related losses on residential first mortgages. We also facilitate the sale of low-down payment mortgages in the secondary market.

You will develop and maintain metrics and models to support financial and operational performance tracking. You will also provide ad hoc analysis and research as input to process improvement initiatives. You will have the unique ability to highlight trends and patterns to identify and communicate potential opportunities and issues to management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze production trends highlighting significant variances to operating plan or goals and consult with production leaders to develop corrective action plans.  Track underwriter/specialist productivity trends adjusted for non-production time and assist production leaders in identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Assist Process Engineers in collecting and analyzing process data to measure current state and model future state process improvement projects.  Work with finance to develop cost benefit analysis (CBA) for projects that require significant system development. Set up reporting to track process of improvement pilots and post mortem results.
  • Issue RCS leadership reports covering production volume, productivity, decision cycle times, quality metrics and capacity.  Perform ad hoc analysis as assigned to investigate special cause variations or increase visibility into areas of interest. 
  • Analyze customer performance and make recommendations to improve economic value added (EVA) opportunities.  Run CUW pricing model to assist Client Service Managers’ in negotiating underwriting contracts.  Track CUW lenders' performance compared to pricing assumptions and highlight low profitable clients to production leaders.
  • Facilitate annual operating plan and periodic forecast accounting for volume, headcount and financial impacts.  Develop capacity and financial models and work with production leaders to define forecast assumptions aligned to strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Support supplemental billing research and ad hoc reporting to ensure billing accuracy and transparency.  Alert management of billing issues and coordinate resolution amongst several Radian and Clayton departments to mitigate customer impact

Job Specifications


  • Working knowledge of Mortgage banking, mortgage insurance, insurance or financial services background is preferred.
  • Experience in developing resource capacity and forecast models.
  • Experience in producing analysis to support projects using Six Sigma methodologies and design of experiments.
  • Demonstrated the ability to communicate the results of analysis to front-line management in order to effect process improvements.
  • Proven ability to distill large amounts of data into analysis that can be easily interpreted by management.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Ability to apply statistical tools to determine cause and effect relations, and predictive forecasting
  • VBA knowledge is preferred
  • Experience with resource planning and simulation models preferred

Prior Work Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of related experience.
