Job Description

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Radian connects lenders, homebuyers, investors and loan servicers using a suite of private mortgage insurance and related risk management products and services. We help promote and preserve the tradition of homeownership while protecting lenders from default-related losses on residential first mortgages. We also facilitate the sale of low-down payment mortgages in the secondary market.

The Scrum Master plays a key role in Radian's execution of an agile like software development methodology. Candidates are expected to exhibit strong knowledge and background in Information Technology particularly in project management and application development management.

Scrum Masters are primarily responsible for a dedicated agile team. The Scrum Master leads dedicated teams to deliver business functionality through development and quality assurance execution provided by subject matter experts on their teams. The Scrum Master works with Product Managers to ensure timely delivery of prioritized requests generated by the Radian Business entities. Scrum Masters must have above average communications skills, be well organized and exhibit above average follow-up and follow-through skills.

JOB REQUIREMENTS


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as Scrum master for a dedicated scrum teams with a focus on guiding the teams towards improving the way they work.                                  
  • Facilitate sprint planning, retrospective and sprint demos                                        
  • Assist the product owner with keeping the backlog groomed                                               
  • Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing          
  • Coach and mentor other scrum masters in our product team. Ensure that our ways of working are consistent across the teams.                                                      
  • Perform Project Management like responsibilities:produce status reports, facilitate meetings, manage dependencies between teams, manage risk.                                                 .                                                                      

Knowledge:

  • Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development
  • Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures
  • Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team
  • Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics
  • Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition
  • Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices
  • Strong knowledge of Project Management fundamentals as defined by the Project Management Institute in the Project Management Body of Knowledge
  • Knowledge and competency in the project schedule building process
  • Experience in planning, organizing, leading, and facilitating cross-functional, matrix organized teams.  
  • Knowledge and experience with the following is a plus: Guidewire, Amazon Web Services, Rally and Daptiv.

Prior Work Experience:

  • 8-10 Years of related work experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field required.
  • Master’s Degree a plus

Required Certification:

  • PMP Certification (Project Management Institute, Project Management Professional)

Additional/Preferred Certifications:

  • Certifies Scrum Master (CSM)
  • Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
  • PMI Agile Certified Practioner (PMI-ACP)
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)
