Job Description

As a Product Owner I you will support the software development life cycle for new IT work requests. The PO will provide subject matter expertise, and cultivate a thorough understanding of the internal and external user experience for core business applications. The PO will refine scope, quantify business benefits, and work with IT partners to estimate complexity of new work items, and manage business prioritization activities. The PO will ensure effectiveness of new IT deliverables by defining business requirements (i.e. "feature" elaboration), collaborating with IT on user story development, facilitating UAT test planning and execution, and ensuring business readiness for consumption of new functionality.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Quantify the business value, scope, and desired capabilities for new IT Work Requests; faciliate initial IT estimation process to validate cost-benefit of requested work.
  • Drive prioritization of system enhancement requests. Provide inputs in quarterly IT planning cycles and advocate for inclusion of items with high business value.
  • Work with system/technical owners to understand general architecture enough to influence key business decisions on capabilities. Partner with senior level PO's on larger projects.
  • Drive feature elaboration and adhere to defined content standards; help with the development of quality assurance procedures to ensure all features submitted for IT scheduling are complete and accurate
  • Support UAT and BAT testing efforts as well as production release testing to ensure that items being released to production satisfy business requirements, and do not cause uninitended issues.
  • Contribute to the development of a PO team,  grow cross-functional business and domain knowledge.

Job Specifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science or MIS/Information Technology is desirable. Strong knowledge of one or more Radian business processes is desired, or proficient understanding of the general Mortgage Insurance life cycle is highly desired. Knowledge and experience with Agile Development / Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) prefereed.  In addition, Six Sigma DMAIC/DMADV and/or Lean or Green Belt certification is a plus. General knowledge around Project Management is a plus.

Prior Work Experience:

  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience.

Education and Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with concentration in Computer Science, IT/MIS, Business or related field.
  • PMP and/or Green Belt is a plus.
