Job Description

As the Manager, Storage Services Team you will plan, implement and manage Radian's Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure and Backup Infrastructure(s). You will also lead the staff in this team. In addition, you will be responsible for the ongoing SAN/Backup strategy direction and technical direction, ensuring a cost effective evolving structure and capabilities for these technologies. Performance of duties also requires technical hands on assists in implementation of server and storage technology solutions in sustaining or advancing computing technologies, performance, security and cost of ownerships. You will be a key member of IT Global Operations Leadership Team, covering physical asset management, security, performance, architecture/engineering and related business processes and workflows.

What you will do:

  • Manager of team of (6) Storage/Systems Engineers responsible for planning, implementing and managing Radian's Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure and the Backup Infrastucture(s).  Responsible for directing their team’s effort in all tactical aspects for support of assigned infrastructure.  This includes analyzing the team’s training needs, support tools requirements, resolving scheduling conflicts, determining work assignment and prioritizations.  Collaborating with other team leaders, project managers and leadership to ensure a systems level approach to changes and problem resolutions.  Reporting of status and analyzing and approving system modification, upgrades and enhancements.  Responsible for directing their team’s effort in all tactical aspects for maintenance support of assigned systems.  This includes analyzing the team’s training needs, support tools requirements, resolving scheduling conflicts, determining work assignment and prioritizations.  Collaborating with other team leaders, project manager and leadership to ensure a systems level approach to changes and problem resolutions.  Reporting of status and analyzing and approving system modification, upgrades and enhancements.
  • Maintaining and deploying systems by installation, configuration, and upgrades of hardware, software and storage devices.  Monitor and manage system performance, including triage and resolution activities for performance related incidents, customer request and/or identified trends.  Monitor and manage Incident/Request/Change queue(s) (ServiceNow), initiating appropriate actions as required Initiate, submit and execute change requests for assigned systems Initiate and manage  vendor support and coordinate required support actions.
  • Lead technical direction discussion(s) and planning within team and outside team.  Represent technical areas on project teams.  Perceived and demonstrated Subject Matter Expert for specific areas/technologies.  Provides upgrade recommendations and supporting rationale.                                               
  • Contribute to the development of DR/BCP related materials.  Participate in DR/BCP related tests and events.  Participate in audit and related regulatory compliance analysis and remediation efforts.  Provide off-hours production and, at times, development system support. Execute recovery and BCP requirements resulting from DR/BCP declarations and Development of system appropriate documentation. 
  • Other duties as requested.

Who we are looking for:

Knowledge:

  • 10-15 years of maintaining storage/backup infrastructures
  • Significant system knowledge and hands-on engineering experience (deployment, configuration, customization and integration) of SAN hardware components and systems
  • Supervisorial and task management skills with the focus on building effective teams

People Management:

  • Directly manages (6) Storage/Systems Engineers located in Dayton, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City and Connecticut.


Prior Work Experience

  • 10 - 15 years of related worked experience with 1-3 years of supervisory experience.


Education and Credentials

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Computer Science or Information Technology or other Engineering degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Other Certifications:   Microsoft MSCE or equivalent
