Headquartered in Philadelphia, Radian connects lenders, homebuyers, investors and loan servicers using a suite of private mortgage insurance and related risk management products and services. We help promote and preserve the tradition of homeownership while protecting lenders from default-related losses on residential first mortgages. We also facilitate the sale of low-down payment mortgages in the secondary market.

Director of Network Services has full management accountability and overall responsibility for all aspects (strategy, execution and availability) of Radian’s Cisco based data and voice network (LAN/WAN) infrastructure. Also, in partnership with the Security Team, this role is accountable to ensure all appropriate and effective security controls are deployed and maintained. This position is also accountable for network hardware, software and carrier vendor relationships, along with Radian’s Procurement Team.

This position reports to the Vice President, IT Infrastructure & Operations and is one of the senior leadership positions in the IO organization. The peer leaders and team members in IO provide all aspects of IT infrastructure for the enterprise, including Servers, Storage/backup, Desktop, Mobile, NOC, Release Management, Application Administration, Disaster Recovery, Change Management and Operational Security. Radian's deployed business and corporate solutions reside in Radian managed datacenters and co-locations, AWS cloud, Azure cloud and with SaaS vendors like SalesForce.Com. Along with the IO peer leaders and Development team leadership, this position will ensure ongoing alignment with the modernization and other application efforts for all network requirements. This position will also play a key role in the further network evolution component of our technology blue print. Radian is actively pursuing a diversification strategy which includes acquisition of complimentary Mortgage and Real Estate Services oriented firms. Network integration of these acquisitions will also be a core responsibility of this position as these firms are brought under the Radian umbrella.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ongoing refinement of Radian’s Network Roadmap, leading technical strategy, architecture evolution and tactical execution of all work in delivering network infrastructure and services
  • Network budget management (capital and expense) 
  • Staff Management  
  • Carrier and related external contract management, including vendor/partner interface and relationship management
  • Manage and ensure network based security requirements are met


  • 15+ years professional experience with a combination of ‘hands on’ network/security technical responsibilities and leadership in a network or security role
  • Experience with communication carriers / industry technologies... MPLS, SIP, VPN, Direct Connect…etc
  • Experience with network management and monitoring tools
  • Vendor/provider contract and relationship management
  • Sourced services management
  • Experience with network related hardware / software and evolution paths
  • Experience with annual budget development (capital and expense) and ongoing management                                  
  • Experience managing a reasonably complex WAN environment, including exposure/connection to Cloud services/providers
  • Experience managing a staff of Network Engineers

  • Pragmatic approach to new technology with ability to balance technology upgrades with operational risk
  • Significantly ‘self-sufficient’ with high comfort making recommendations and decisions with less than perfect information
  • Ability to assess, recommend and present financial / business benefits of technical options and champion recommendations
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff across geographic locations
  • Dynamic ability to shift easily between tactical/operational issues and long term/strategic planning

People Management:

  • Leads a team of 14 staff including two managers. This position may also leverage team leads. Network staff are all US-based primarily located in Dayton, OH and Philadelphia, PA with about one-third of the staff based in other remote locations.

Prior Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Computer Sciences, Technology or related field required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Network/security centric certifications.
