Headquartered in Philadelphia, Radian connects lenders, homebuyers, investors and loan servicers using a suite of private mortgage insurance and related risk management products and services. We help promote and preserve the tradition of homeownership while protecting lenders from default-related losses on residential first mortgages. We also facilitate the sale of low-down payment mortgages in the secondary market.

The Data Analyst proactively participates in developing artifacts that are consumed by the data engineering team such as source to target mappings, data quality rules, and data transformation rules for our data migration project. The Data Analyst must be a critical thinker who can investigate an issue, review the results, and provide a suggested solution to the problem. The Data Analyst works closely with a variety of partners including the data architects, the data engineering team, the application development team, the QA team, and business partners. Therefore the Data Analyst must be able to effectively communicate to ensure others understand the information that is provided to them as well as any request that is made of them.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partner with business stakeholders to develop specifications for data integration & movement that includes performing data analysis, identify data related issues and provide a suggested resolution, create source/target mappings and transformation, load and data cleansing rules.
  • Support development troubleshooting of data defects with transactional system.
  • Champion data quality.  Investigate data quality issues and develop improvement plans.  Maintain metadata and support the firm’s metadata platform.
  • Actively participate in projects and complete duties as assigned by manager and project leadership.

Job Specifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Economics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or other data analysis discipline.  Demonstrated experience considered in lieu of technical degree.
  • 3+ years experience with data migration and SQL required
  • 2+ years experience with SQL Server or  Oracle is required
  • Understanding of data movement (ETL)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with current mortgage loans evaluations, gathering requirements, analyzing data, data mapping, and report/database development is a plus
  • Experience with Guidewire's Policy Center and/or Billing Center is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • 3+ years experience with a relational database  preferably with Financial / Mortgage business acumen's.

  • 3+ years experience with data migration

  • Ability to write mid-level complexity SQL code

  • 3+ years experience working with SQL Server Management Studio

  • high level proficiency with Excel.  Able to effectively use Excel functionality to reduce the time spent doing routing documentation work. Examples include, but not limited to, macros, lookup functions, pivot tables, etc.

  • Experience creating and maintaining business glossaries.

  • Clear and concise understanding of data movement (ETL), Business Intelligence and industry trends.

  • Must be a team player with effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to clearly and professionally interact with internal and external parties.

  • Understanding of query driven applications and reporting, and logical and physical data models.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

  • Strong creative thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.

  • High commitment to excellent service levels and satisfaction with partners.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task are necessary.

  • Detail-oriented outlook coupled with ability to manage time effectively, plan ahead and meet deadlines.
