Job Description

The Compliance Associate will be a member of the Radian Group Inc. Legal Department, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, Compliance. This position will primarily work to protect the business interests of Radian and is affiliates by supporting the Company’s efforts to identify, address and resolve compliance issues and implement and support the Company’s Compliance strategies.

What you will do:

  • Support the Company's Business Conduct and Ethics program, with a secondary focus on Regulatory Compliance.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, communicating and maintaining policies and procedures for all of Radian’s business lines to help advance and sustain an organizational culture of ethics and ensure the company's compliance with laws, regulations, company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Assist the Head of Compliance in identifying potential areas of compliance risk; develop and implement action plans to resolve compliance issues, including guidance on how to avoid or address similar situations in the future.
  • Support all aspects of compliance with the Company’s Code of Conduct, including maintaining, updating and implementing the Code and related business conduct policies.
  • Help in responding to compliance inquiries and audits by the Company's customers and auditors; work with other Company functions to develop and implement SOX, SOC 2 and other governance level controls and testing.
  • Work to develop and maintain practices and procedures around records management and privacy, and provide general support in managing the Company's insurance, consumer finance and mortgage services regulatory obligations. 
  • Work closely with all business functions, the legal team and outside counsel to manage business compliance strategy.
  • Perform other compliance-related tasks as necessary.  


What we are looking for:

  • Experience with and strong working knowledge of business conduct and ethics program compliance in a publicly traded company is highly preferred.  Prior experience with the regulatory compliance requirements of company providing products and services in highly regulated industries is also preferred but not required. 
  • Experience with regulated financial services industry experience, preferably insurance, residential real estate and/or mortgage lending, or other consumer financial services.  Additional certification may be helpful but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, work across functions and maintain composure and confidentiality in sensitive situations. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Experience with the preparation of training materials, internal memoranda and meeting presentations.
  • Ability to analyze facts and identify issues, collect and evaluate information and evidence, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to assess compliance or other business conduct risks, identify internal control weaknesses and willingness to recommend impactful solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high quality work product.
  • Demonstrated experience with regulatory or compliance change management.


Prior Work Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of paralegal, compliance or related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree required with increasing responsibility in legal and/or compliance environment. 
  • A paralegal with appropriate experience or compliance professional who has worked in or closely with an in-house legal department could satisfy the needs of this role.
