Job Description

The Accounting Co-op Student will provide general assistance and support to members of Radian's Controller's Group, working collaboratively with leaders and teams from areas including Accounting Policy, Investment Accounting, Financial Accounting and Statutory Reporting, Internal Controls, and Accounts Payable, among others. The specific duties of the Accounting Co-op student will vary, but are expected to include tasks such as account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, research and documentation of policies and procedures, and preparation and review of various financial analysis and reports. The purpose of the role is to provide valuable work experience to the student, while s/he contributes to the overall effectiveness of the Controller's Group.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative support to all areas of the Controller's Group, including Financial Operations, Financial Accounting and Reporting, and Financial Systems and Controls.
  • Assist in researching and documenting accounting policy issues.
  • Perform general accounting tasks such as account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Specifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exposure to accounting principles and other financial concepts.
  • Experience with financial data entry and reporting preferred, but not required.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once and work as part of a team.
  • Strong quantitative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite with skills in excel or other similar software.
