Job Description

The Sr. Digital Learning Designer will oversee the design, development, and marketing function for National Training. This role will work closely with sales, product development, marketing, and business leaders to bring ideas to life with innovative execution and expertise. This individual must be adept at needs analysis, design plan, development and maintenance of In-Person Workshops, Webinars, Video or On-Demand, eLearning modules. This role will collaborate with a highly cross-functional team to design and deliver state-of-the-art digital learning solutions that engage customers and help develop employees across the sales organization.

This individual will have a keen eye for learner experience, with an unyielding attention to detail and design quality, to create learning solutions that are high quality, engaging and interactive. We’re looking for someone who believes in showing work-in-progress and is comfortable receiving and giving feedback to produce the best results. The individual for this role should enjoy throwing creative solutions at a problem and have the ability to step back to evaluate the measurable success of your approach.

In addition, the Sr. Digital Learning Designer is responsible for the design innovation within our learning management system and National Training website. The ideal candidate must be able to successfully analyze learning needs and translate business technical content into engaging conversational learning experiences using a variety of blended learning solutions. This individual should also be able to manage multiple projects end to end, be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills, and excel in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Digital & Multimedia Learning Development

  • Create course content that engages the audience, increases retention, transfers skill and knowledge, and drives sustained behavior change.
  • Create concise micro learning geared to engage learners and break down concepts into easy-to-digest blocks.
  • Develop multi-modal learning and performance support material, including synchronous remote learning methodologies, blended classroom learning, interactive e-learning modules, videos & voice overs, animations, and info graphics.
  • Design and develop effective and engaging learning experiences leveraging learning science and instructional design principles.
  • Focus on the development and redesign of training presentations, info graphics, social media assets, advertisements, and visual assets to be used in video production.

Project Management

  • Perform learning needs analysis and prescribe the appropriate learning experience to close performance gaps.
  • Manage learning projects including:  develop and manage project plans, conduct project meetings, insure project deliverables are met on time and on budget while engaging internal partners, SMEs, vendors, and often external customers.
  • Manage complex relationships with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast moving environment with short deadlines and high business impact.
  • Manage and maintain course content on the learning management system and National Training website.
  • Scope, plan and manage the time and effort needed for developing and maintaining learning deliverables.
  • Work with team to develop assessments to determine the effectiveness of each course - including both traditional assessments and more modern learning games.

Vendor Management

  • Work with 3rd party content developers to ensure consistent, quality learning content.

Job Specifications


  • 3+ years of experience in managing learning projects in the financial services or mortgage industry preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in designing instructional design and multimedia design including:
  • Proficiency with visual design, editing and video production for learning
  • Proficiency in design and animation software; Adobe In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, & AfferEffects, and Adobe Premier.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio/video scripts
  • Experience with design/e-learning software such as Adapt, Articulate Storyline or Captivate

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to drive a project to completion, owning the standard of completed work across multiple stakeholders to deliver an impactful learner experience
  • Portfolio that showcases adult learning design and craftsmanship
  • Able to work independently as well as the ability to partner with creative/graphic teams to produce exceptional learning
  • Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities while balancing quality with on-time delivery
  • Ability to translate concepts, summarize and communicate complex ideas, and clearly articulate business value with a good sense of how sales professionals think, operate, and absorb information

People Management:

  • Will manage one resource.

Other Position Parameters:

  • Experience working directly with Sales and or Marketing teams and demonstrated understanding of the unique learning challenges faced in these environments.
  • Experience managing vendors in developing digital learning content.

Education and Credentials

  • Required:    Bachelor’s Degree,  Concentration in  Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Science, Graphic Design or a closely related field.
  • Preferred:    Master’s Degree
