Job Description

The position is part of the team responsible for the development, validation, and maintenance of econometric and statistical models for internal or commercial use. The position may also directly support other related activities including data analysis, professional business services, and model validation for clients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Updating databases that support econometric and statistical models, which entails maintaining the related computer programs that extract, transform, and load data (ETL).
  •  Acquiring and preparing new data from internal and external sources to enhance existing or support proposed models.
  •  Validating models, internal and external, which includes replicating the data, programs, and output.  Monitors U.S. banking regulatory guidance on model validation, to assure compliance with current requirements.
  •  Supporting periodic updates of existing econometric and statistical models, which includes revising the related suite of white papers and summaries used in marketing.
  •  Testing the implementation of econometric and statistical models in internal and commercial products. This entails working closely with software developers and programmers.
  •  Supporting new econometric and statistical model development: acquiring data, developing models, validating models, preparing white papers and other documentation.

Job Specifications


  • General knowledge of U.S. financial markets and specialized knowledge of fixed income and , especially, mortgage markets.
  • Thorough understanding of econometric and statistical modeling of consumer choice, including non-parametric methods.
  • In addition, ability to communicate technical concepts verbally and in writing.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in programming languages used in model development (R, Python, SAS, RATS); structured query languages (Microsoft SQL or ORACLE) used in developing and maintaining large databases; ; Microsoft Windows/Server operating system. In addition, experience with fundamental programming languages for object- or component-oriented software development (C/C++/C#) is useful.

Education and Credentials

  • Required:    Master’s Degree,  Concentration in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science
  • Preferred:    Doctorate,  Concentration in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science
  • Other Certifications::   CFA preferred
