The QA Lead leads the offshore QA team to establish and evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices; oversees all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met; partners with the Business and Development Team (onshore and offshore) to understand test scope, create various test artifacts/test scripts, coordinate testing activities with the User Acceptance Testers, and support the test execution and post-production testing.

Client Connectivity-specific skills and experience:

Experience in the testing of client integrations, middleware, APIs, SOAP/REST based web Services.
Experience with test suite automation.
A strong sense of customer service with a strong desire to deliver.

Nice to have list:

Experience with MISMO or other industry based electronic data interchange formats.
Experience with XML /JSON Schema.
Experience with SQL and relational database.
Experience with the mortgage lending or servicing industries.
Past experience as a client/server or business application developer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads  the offshore QA Team through aggressive test cycles, which include but not limit to the following: help the team to understand  test scope, review and approve QA test scripts and test results, create the monthly QA performance  metrics
  • Leads the User Acceptance Team through aggressive test cycles, which include but not limit to the following: work with the Business to understand the test scenarios, put together test scripts based on the scenarios identified, prepare test data to support test scenarios, support Business during user acceptance testing, record defects and enhancements identified by the User Acceptance Testers, report defects/enhancements to Development Team and manage items that need to be retested
  • Proactively look for continuous improvement opportunities with the test methodology and best practices to support offshore QA Testing Team and User Acceptance Testing Team
  • Contributes to the planning of QA and User Acceptance task assignments, scheduling, estimates and team morale
  • Create performance metrics for QA and User Acceptance Teams

Job Specifications

Knowledge:

  • Previous experience with leading offshore QA testing team, experience with hands-on testing, test management tools, and experience working with the Business to complete test design and test execution on time according to the project plan.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive experience with HP Quality Center and Rally is required
  • Experience with both Agile and Waterfall SDLC is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple high complexity projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to coach offshore QA Team and new Business Users to perform User Acceptance Testing
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate/report User Acceptance Test status at weekly project meetings with the various Program and Project managers, Development Managers, Business Process Engineers, Business Sponsors and Subject Matter Experts
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust the User Acceptance Testing tasks/processes based on the experience of the Business Users
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain/verify the necessary testing artifacts are present should the project be audited.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively and proactively solve problems

 
Other Position Parameters:

  • The QA Lead provides guidance to offshore QA Team members in order to maintain the highest level of quality in our deliverables, but not having direct managerial authority over them. The QA Lead could be working with a User Acceptance Test Analyst and a number of Business Subject Matter Experts (depends on the size of the project) to lead them through aggressive test cycles. The QA Lead is expected to direct these resources, despite not having direct managerial authority over them.


Prior Work Experience

  • Technical:   3 - 5 years
  • Supervisory:   1 - 3 years


Education and Credentials

  • Required:    Bachelor’s Degree,  Concentration in Computer Science or IT
