Job Description

The Jr. Underwriter will be responsible for supporting team underwriters in basic updating of information in files previously decision-ed by an underwriter, returning emails and phone calls to clients, clear specific conditions, maintaining the pipeline production report, maintain rush log and other support functions as assigned. The Production Supervisor will assign tasks on a daily basis based on priorities.

The Jr. Underwriter must be able to work collaboratively and positively with team members to support Radian policies , processes and procedures.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform complete and accurate data entry on loans previously decision-ed by an underwriter.
  • Assist in communication with the clients regarding loans previously decision-ed by an underwriter.
  • Clear minor conditions on conditionally approved  loans.
  • Review contract underwriting files for completeness
  • Maintain the client submission log and assist with SLA monitoring

Job Specifications


  • The Jr. Underwriter will need to possess knowledge and understanding of conforming loan programs and agency guidelines, as well as recognize the impact to a decision a change can make.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to become proficient in multiple computer systems and software. 
  • Three years as junior underwriter or senior processor with customer-facing experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • The successful candidate for this position will be able to produce quality work and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment with competing priorities.
  • They must be highly organized with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Detail oriented and technologically savvy and comfortable learning new computer systems and software. 
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work in paperless environment.

  • Updating doc exp dates based on new docs received
  • Clearing loans to close when condo and flood review depts have approved files
  • Add seller concessions based on purchase contract addendums

Prior Work Experience

  • Technical:   3 - 5 years
  • Supervisory:   None

Education and Credentials

  • Required:    HS Diploma/GED
