Job Description

The Machine Learning (ML) Engineer will research and implement appropriate ML algorithms and tools, create machine learning models and maintain or retrain existing systems related to residential property valuations. The role will require collaborating within a specific team in the development and maintenance of analytical models related to our automated valuation models (AVMs) and other valuation products. Role will work with vast quantities of information, require exceptional data management skills, and the ability to perform complex modeling on dynamic data sets. Prior experience with property valuation or real estate technology preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing advanced analytics through the use of traditional regression, artificial intelligence and/or machine learning modeling.  
  • Study and transform data science prototypes. 
  • Design machine learning systems for the automation of predictive analytics.  
  • Research and implement appropriate ML algorithms and tools, and develop machine learning prototypes and applications according to requirements.  
  • Test, document and deliver models.
  • Identifying and researching new opportunities for data. 
  • Evaluate and select appropriate datasets and data representation methods. 
  • Run machine learning tests and experiments and evaluate data results. 
  • Perform statistical analysis and fine-tuning using test results. 
  • Research new techniques and ideas for use in existing or new use cases.  
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field of machine learning and financial applications thereof. 
  • Understand our business and be willing and able to collaborate with business team and other technical staff.  
  • Manage or mentor model engineers. 
  • Mentor and develop junior modeling staff through interactions, co-working, knowledge sharing and in-training. 
  • Provide leadership and professional support to advancing of careers.

Job Specifications

Knowledge:

  • Deep knowledge of math, probability, statistics and algorithms
  • Understanding of real estate or property valuation a plus


Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience as a Data Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning Engineer or similar role
  • Understanding of data structures, data modeling and software architecture
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (like Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (like scikit-learn)
  • Understanding of AWS, AWS SageMaker, or other ML development platforms
  • Ability to write and test robust code in Python, Java, and R
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and meet strict deadlines
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to write code in C (++, #) a plus


Prior Work Experience

  • Technical:   8 - 10 years
  • Supervisory:   0 - 3 years


Education and Credentials

  • Required:    Master’s Degree, with concentration in Mathematics/Statistics/AI
  • Preferred:    Doctorate
